If this type of thing happen at the last moment anyone would be annoyed. The first thing on the person's mind would be why he/she wants his personal information at the last moment? I would consider such type of person fraud or untrustworthy.

I think asking and/or agreeing to a background check before you even meet the person is quite excessive and would definitely be a red flag for me as I would be worried about what other things someone could do with that information.

I would tell her that first we should meet and then, if I can a possibility of our relationship growing further, then I would consent it. A background check before the first date is going a little bit overboard.

Asking for a full name in order to do a background check before the first date is a bit extreme, in my humble opinion. The person asking that so soon would throw up red flags for me. I could see it after a couple of dates, but not before a first date in a public area.

An easy solution to this would be to meet somewhere public. This would eliminate any worry from the partner that you might do something awful. A lot of people have a criminal record from when they were young or from something stupid they did. Requesting a background check right away might put her right off even though your actually a really good person

I'd recommend to him that we meet in person first, and after we meet, if we're BOTH interested in seeing each other again, that we then exchange information and both have a background check completed.

In this day and age, you can never be too sure. He could use your name for a background check, but he could also use it to to some ID theft, who knows what other information he has on you. It all comes down to trust and instinct. Trust your gut, it is never wrong. Proceed from there.
