There’s a couple scenarios to this:
The ‘no payer’ may have just had the worst date ever with you and because of this is refusing to pay.
The ‘no payer’ may use this tactic to get lots of dates, then any ones that don’t turn out the way they planned means another ‘no pay’. Possibly they only pay on dates the have fun at
Either way its pretty low and they have little regard for the partner

At first i would be really pissed at that person. But I would go ahead and pay the entire bill then leave the table at once.

I agree with paying the entire bill, I mean, of course it could be difficult to tell if the other person were lying, but the decent person in me would not let me allow someone to remain there, unable to pay their bill…

A more interesting question perhaps, what if you did not bring your wallet?!

Life is too short to play games so I would pay the bill and chalk it up to another loser and just move on to the next date.

To be honest I would be fuming mad. Something similar happened once, and I basically looked him in the eye and said, “I am sure you can arrange to pay your half of it with the restaurant.” I smiled, even though it was kind of terse, and politely stood up, leaned down and planted a soft kiss on his cheek (even though he recoiled at my touch) and then simply left my side of the bill on the table while calling for a waiter and then walking off.

It was absolutely classic.

I agree with Rhonda, paying your own tab seems to be the more reasonable resolve in this particular situation. You would not want to run off because you feel your date is trying to make you pay for a very uncomfortable dinner date. You don’t wanna be tagged as scheming by that action do you? Neither your date, i suppose! So paying your part of the tab is a decent resolve.

I guess it would depend on if I thought the person was lying or just trying to get out of paying since the date had no chemistry. If I thought they were lying I might say I didn’t have enough cash on me that I would have to run to an ATM and then just not go back. If there was no chemistry I’d offer to pay my portion of the tab and they could arrange to pay their half with the management.
