ONLINE DATING
TIP #010
PUT SOME THOUGHT INTO YOUR USERNAME
When a person does a search on an online dating service, any one of three things
may jump out at the person to make him/her click to view your profile. The
first is your photo, the second is your headline, and the third (our focus
in this issue) is your username. Your username is an opportunity to tell something
about yourself or create something catchy. For example, let's take a female
named Edna whose passion is watching hockey. Instead of using a username like
edna347 (which is stale) she can quickly let people know about her hockey passion
with a username like hockeygirl or hockeygal (which helps attract the interest
of men who like hockey too). It's also generally a good idea to avoid overused
usernames - ones that have the word "sexy" (i.e. "sexyeyes")
or "cutie" (i.e. "QTpie") in them. Remember that your username
is an opportunity to express something about yourself or your personality.
It's a compliment to receive an email that says, "I really like your username" or "Your
username is intriguing. What does it mean?" Make sure your username can
elicit such an inquiry. (SOURCE: Online Dating Newsletter - www.onlinedatingnewsletter.com)
