A Las Vegas news channel recently did a story on Sonja,
a model and columnist who tried online
dating, but
ended up being assaulted by the guy she met. You
can read and view the report here.
Like many others, Sonja failed to follow important
online dating safety tips, particularly when it comes
to meeting someone for the first time. Her story is
a testament that it is important to always keep your
guard up and follow advice like that given in the following
articles:
> What
Are The Dangers of Online Dating?
> Online Dating Dangers: Keep Your Guard Up
> Meeting Face to Face for the First Time
> How to Stay Clear of Married Men
Unfortunately,
Sonja's experience has caused her to stereotype online
dating. She says, "I realized that when I tried
the online dating thing, that if you're willing to pay
$19.99 a month, you'll meet $19.99 guys."
There
are tens of thousands of happily married couples, who
met through online dating, that might dispute that statement.
No matter where you
meet another person, if you're not cautious then you could
end up a victim. If Sonja had met a guy in a bar and agreed
to go out with him and gave him her home address, the same
thing could have happened. The real message here is that
no matter where you meet someone, be
cautious and be safe.
May
all of your dating experiences be safe,
