It's quite interesting to see how online dating has
evolved since its early beginnings. To date, the evolution
of Internet dating has gone through four main phases:
Newsgroups > Bulletin Board Systems > Portals > Web
That's
four major phases in just under two decades. It makes
one wonder how far off the next major phase is and
what it will be. In the meantime, however, being a part
of this evolutionary process is simply exciting... as
long
as it
isn't a lifetime venture, that is.
As
you'll see in today's Feature Link section, Online
Dating Magazine is starting
to compile the history
of various online dating services for a new "Industry
History" section.
There's a lot to learn, too, like how a Ticketmaster acquisition
in early 2002 massively expanded the reach of Match.com.
Studying
the history of these major online dating services starts
to paint a picture of why these services succeeded over
the thousands of new dating sites that open every year.
And
that provides a glimpse as to why you're using Match.com or LavaLife instead of "billybobsfreedatingservice.com."
May your dating experience evolve to future success,
