I lived in Japan for a little over 3 years. The culture is very different in many ways, dating only being one of them. There isn't that much of a difference in bigger cities, smaller towns are much more rooted in their culture. If there is an attraction between two people culture issues tend to work themselves out "naturally" (so to speak).

It was probably different for me as a female. I got hit on all the time, but I was engaged (at the time) so I never actually dated a Japanese man.

Dating in Japan would be exciting! Online translators is something though that everyone should beware of - I know in the past I have fumbled some conversations with the use of them and therefore know first hand the troubles that this can get you into!

Dating in Japan, whew!! It must be kind of exciting, especially with a person of different culture. It's like you get so curious about how they do things, their reactions to the things you are accustomed to,etc. As the video suggests, you have to be modest and don't act like a rock star. I think it's a good tip to follow, no matter where you are on a date. I think you will be just fine on your date in Japan as long as you keep it real.
