Bad Economy Good for Online Dating

(Online Dating Newsletter) Numerous online dating services, including Perfectmatch.com and Match.com are reporting strong growth in paid memberships during the economic slump in the United States. Match.com announced this month that November was its strongest in more than seven years.

“During these trying times, people are looking for hope in their inbox and they are finding it on Match.com,” said Thomas Enraght-Moony, CEO of Match.com.

Match.com has 15 million current members.

During massively high gas prices, high layoffs, and banking scandals over the mid-Summer to early Fall, PerfectMatch.com saw a 47% increase in memberships for its dating service.

Research by Opinion Research Corp has shown that when young singles get stressed financially, they seek out love more often.

“One of the hardest emotional feelings is being in the midst of bad news by yourself,” cliams Dr. Pepper Schwartz, chief relationship expert for Perfectmatch.com. “We are all generally better as a team and appreciate someone who shares our values, goals and lifestyle, and that’s why we’ve seen increased traffic to top dating sites in the current economic climate.”

this makes sense, people always want to find security. security in a partner also could mean more financial security too. Plus it’s the winter!

Bad economy means lots of new meal-hunters for men to feed and waste money on! I just got hit by a meal-hunter who also stole hundreds of dollars from me and was planning on robbing me in thousands…

You know, if you can court a woman or a man online, for free and reduce the hit on your pocketbook – why not! It’s all about saving money this year, with the current state of the economy. Although, if you are paying $40.00 for a dating site per month, it can be difficult to jusity this (:

Online dating allows people to get to know one another a little bit before money is actually spent on dinner and such. It helps weed out people you probably wouldn’t connect with and that saves time, money and frustration.
